Yehey! Got to watch it already!
The story was great! There wasn’t the usual sci-fi angle of how the hero Hancock was created. Instead, he was portrayed to be human in every way save for his superman-like strength and abilities. The supposed object of his affection ”Angel” being a superhuman as well was a good twist
The movie did not drag. There were no superhuman nemesis as well. Instead, Hancock had to fight against his own self – his bad habits, loneliness and insecurities – and others’ opinions of him. He was superhuman, and yet he was alone. Los Angeles hated him. Only one person, Ray, believed in him.
What was good about the story was that the humanity of a superhero shone through. I didn’t admire Hancock because of what he can physically do, but for what he chose to do.
But!! Angel’s husband and stepson were human. What would she do when they both age and she remains young? What would she do when they die?! And if she and Hancock were created to be with each other, why would they turn away from their true purpose?
A sequel mayhaps will provide the answers…
