As usual, the place was full. Good thing though that they offer to let the guests roam around the mall first and they’ll just text when the table’s ready.
I’ll start first with my rants… So that I’ll end on a happy note. :p
1. The service was good, but it was not spectacular. We had to repeatedly ask for drink refills. We also had to wait around 30 minutes before they handed us the bill.
2. There is not enough space. I know a lot of people want to eat there. But they need not fill it up to its maximum capacity. Two or so tables less might do the trick.
Now, on to the good stuff…
(Such a shame I wasn’t able to take pictures!!
)
1. Food was great! Loved the enoki tempura. If I remember right, a small slice of bacon was wrapped on the stems of a bunch of enoki. The result was that the enoki fanned out and took on the shape of a pressed flower. It made the enoki easier to eat. I didn’t have to gnaw so much on it (as with bacon wrapped enoki) and I was able to nibble my way one piece at a time.
For 5 to 6 pieces, it’s only Php 208. This is already a bargain for me, even if fresh enoki at my neighborhood korean-japanese store costs only 40php for one whole pack.
2. I was surprised with the serving size of the spicy tuna salad. For Php 189, L and I found it hard to finish the plate! The serving was good for 3 to 4 people!
3. The wagyu rice was okay. It wasn’t as fantastic as I had hoped given that it’s Php 289.
4. The best dish we had last night – bacon wrapped dory. Somehow, the taste of the dory wasn’t overpowered by the bacon. 5 pieces = Php 208 only!!
I’ll bring my parents there next time they visit me in Manila.
John & Yoko rocks! Hip design! Great food! Good looking staff!
I love john & yoko! Brilliant concept! Great lighting and design! Hip dining staff and above all, amazing flavors! Oh I love the Japanese movies on the wall! They weren’t lying when they said that they will feed the 5 senses!!!
