Ilocos Norte, 03-06 April 2009, Part I

So much memories in just 3 days!!

This was one of them – the famous Ilocos Empanadas from Batac, Ilocos Sur Norte.

First, they make the dough… The orange color is just food coloring…

They then add the sliced “ubod” and raw papaya…

They fold it and cut the edges to make it round…

P.S. The locals say that the oil used to fry the empanadas contribute much to the great flavor, as even the “isaw” and all the other goodies are cooked in that “kawa” (kawa = a huge frying pan). :)

  2. Oh! That’s right. Sorry typo! Haha! :) I miss those empanadas! Wish there was a store here in Manila which sells those… Pero dapat they make the empanadas in front of the buyers din. Para complete experience. Haha :)
